This project went along to day 4, it was not only Banksy created his graffiti pieces but also audience participated in this super large scavenger hunt. New York City turned to a great play ground and people had fun with “where is the newest Banksy.”

Bansky today’s work is more overt social critique than the first three pieces. “Occupy” is a word that people use a lot during protesting. By having the right to physically occupy a place during march, it manifests the principe of democracy. Bansky called it “The musical.” I absolutely agree with him.

It also reminds me the occupy wall street movement in 2011. It was a movement that mainly focus on the social injustice especially economic issue. Wall Street is the iconic representative of capitalism. The influence of corporations on government make unequal distribution of social resources. Rich people and big corporates always gain the most resources. On the contrast, middle and working class people are struggling for living. In deed, Bansky’s work is controversial, but it do remind people the deep and influential issues.

This “OCCUPY ! The Musical” piece was found on 19 Stanwix Street, Bushwick, Brooklyn. Bansky also provided a location hint on his Instagram. Again, once Bansky finished and published his latest work in New York City, people had to race against time otherwise the original Bansky graffiti would be soon removed by other people.

The life expectancy of this piece was short, too. It only lasted for 1-2 hours and erased by anonym.

Following the Occupy piece, there was actually a “The musical”series. People found in different places that Banksy left the same “The musical” graffiti right next to other artists’s work.

The location of “playground mob” and “dirty underwear” were in Delancey and Williamsburg respectively. It seemed that Bansky also made the most of his metro card, wasn’t he?
